FINAL TOUCHES

With the Show and Shine this Sunday, I spent the weekend tidying up a few aspects of the bike.

First up was a new set of grips and headlight mounts. These came from Third Gear and can certainly recommend their customer service. Delivery was prompt and arrived a day and a half after ordering.

I also wasn't happy with the exhaust wrap given the material was two different colours. The long temp plan is a TIG welded 304 stainless steel exhaust however in the meantime, the current steel pipe will need suffice. The current pipe had some patches of rust so the logical solution was to paint it. Given the high temps of the exhaust pipe, the colours which are available are very limited. Flat Black was really the only option. I first took to the pipe with a fire brush in the drill and brought it all back to bear metal then applied 2 coats, baked in the oven followed by a final coat which was also baked. The pipe just fitted in the kitchen oven.

Next will be a final clean and polish of the frame, wheels, tank, seat. I'll be sure to post photos of the bike shortly.
