I have a big update to post in the coming week but until than I thought I would give you a bit of a background for the inspiration of the project.
I have always owned and rode dirt bikes from about the age of eight but never really got into road bikes. I got chatting to a guy where I used to work a few years ago and he started showing me pictures of a Yamaha XJR cafe racer he was having built. Here's a picture of the bike that got me thinking about doing my own build.
However it wasn't until about 18 month ago I saw this picture of an XR600 project built by Cafe Racer Dreams (CRD #19). If you have ever looked around at XR cafe racer projects you will have definitely have come across this bike.
While it is more of a brat/tracker style build what really appealed to me is the level of simplicity while still achieving something unique. This was the first example I had seen a dirt bike used for this type of custom project.
After a bit more searching I was finally sold when I saw the XR400 cafe racer built by See See Motorcycles. To my knowledge this was the first time an XR was custom built to a real cafe racer style. Here is a video of the beast in action.
And now the rest is history.
As I mentioned at the beginning, big updates are coming! Stay tuned...
