So it has been a little longer than expected to make this update, I do apologise however I have been on holidays.
Once I started the wiring I quickly learned I was a little out of my depth. I dropped the bike off at DNA Motorcycles for a few weeks and was please with the results when I came to pick it up. Dennis at DNA really went the extra mile with his work taking care of:
Once I started the wiring I quickly learned I was a little out of my depth. I dropped the bike off at DNA Motorcycles for a few weeks and was please with the results when I came to pick it up. Dennis at DNA really went the extra mile with his work taking care of:
- Wiring - the whole harness, I just need to mount and connect switches
- Removed the Heli-Coiled/stripped exhaust mounts and re-tapped new threads
- Soft mounted exhaust
- Kill switch installed into headlight
- Horn installed inside of headlight
- Replaced timing chain
- New rear brake pads and bead blasted caliper
- Entirely new front calipers - the old ones could not be pulled apart even with 165 psi!!!
- Readjusted rear shock giving more clearance
- Installed pressure switches on brake cylinders for light signal
- New rear sprocket
- New chain
and all ready to pick up when I returned from holidays.
I have since cleaned out the rust from inside the '72 CB200 tank, installed barb, tap and filter. Unfortunately the old petcock clashed with the subframe.
I am now in the process of mounting the first of two switches which was ordered from POSH (photos to come soon). I have also booked in the bike to have the seat (and a little something else) upholstered later in the week.
My friend Neil from work stopped by this afternoon with his camera to take a few shots, which I must admit, do look a better than the mobile phone.
Also made a quick video of its first run, unfortunately it was windy at the time...
The video does not to it justice just how good it actually sounds. When I get the chance I will upload a much better video.
I will also upload a few pictures later in the week showing close up details of the work done since my last post.
