Unfortunately I have not been able to provide much of an update until now.
I went to pick up the bike last weekend however, they suffered a power outage and were unable to finish the suspension in time. While this weekend was the Easter long weekend, the mechanic made an exception and opened up the shop so I could pick up my bike.
Long story short, the rear spring was cut and compressed and front springs replaced with the firmer DRZ650 springs. The DRZ650 springs were also compressed to emphasize a two stage approach and the entire shocks were slid up through the claps. The bike looks completely different now! It is almost too low. I think once the seat and engine goes in I will need to raise it all by an inch. Raising the bike will be much easier than lowering it. Overall I am very happy with the work done.
Meanwhile, I have been working on my YZ250, getting it ready to the start of trail riding season. After riding a lot of sand tracks over the past 12 months, sand manged to get into the steering bearing causing serious problems. I don't think these have ever been replaced in its lifetime and were definitely overdue. I had to take a blow torch to the frame in order to help loosed the bearing coupling before chiseling it out. I dropped this off at DNA Motorcycles where the XR's suspension was done. It's booked in for re-valving and adjustment so the bike is set up more for trail and enduro rather than motocross. All things going well, the bike should be ready for the first main ride of the year, this coming Sunday.
I have also ordered the seat pan for the XR. I managed to source this somewhat locally so I hope to have this by the end of the week (fingers crossed).
