So it has been a while since I have made a post. Not a great deal of physical work has been achieved however much organising and planning has taken place. I have also been preoccupied with the dirt bike as of late.
In preparation for the first trail ride of the year, the steering bearings have been replaced as mentioned earlier along with the swingarm linkage bearings. A new steering clamp has also been installed; the original one I ordered was the wrong size and was forcing my front shocks out of alignment. The front shocks had new seals and both front and rear shocks were re-valved and set up softer for trail riding. The rear tyre was also replaced along with fresh gearbox oil and a clean air filter.
The bike performed amazingly on the day. On arrival to the event we had to park out in the paddock as many more riders attended than the organisers had expected; 800 in total! Unfortunately the event was shut down early as there were too many injuries. Regardless, we still managed to fit in a fair bit of riding and was a great day in all.
Here is a pic looking over all the vehicles in the camp site. There were more around to the right.
And here is a pic of the big rig; 2005 Yamaha YZ250 two stroke.
When it comes to dirt bikes, you can't beat a two stroke. As they say...
I have also managed to convert a good mate of mine over to the two stroke side last week. He managed to pick up a 2001 Honda CR250 dirt cheap. There are a few things that required attention which we are going to work on over the next couple of weekends. Photos to come of this little side project too.
Getting back on track, I have purchased my seat pan and steel pipe to build the new tail frame. All things going to plan, the seat and tank will be completely mounted up by the end of the weekend. I picked up the fiberglass pan off ebay from someone here in my state so postage was very cheap. Check out Bron-moto if you're chasing and fiberglass bike parts.
The seat just reaches directly above the center of the rear wheel. The cowl to me is in perfect proportion to the seat. Can't wait to get this installed.
