Today I sent away the Hub to have the custom stainless steel spokes made up. Last night I set to the task of undoing all the spokes. The plan was to salvage these to sell later to bring down the cost of the overall project.
The tyre and tube were easy enough to remove however the spokes proved to be a different story. Every single one of the tension nuts were completely corroded. I was not surprised as there was no tight seal between the rim locker or the valve stem. I accepted the fact that none of these would be salvageable. Time to whip out the angle grinder and make fast work of this.
5 minutes later all the spokes were completely removed.
All things going to plan the rims and spokes should be ready for pickup this Saturday. In the mean time there is plenty of cleaning, polishing and prepping to be done.

I can't wait to get my hands on the new Excel rims and spokes.
On the topic of corrosion, many of the nuts/bolts have been incredibly ceased making removal of parts extremely difficult. WD40 does the trick 9/10 times but for those extra tough ones you can't go past INOX. This is magic stuff! I have literally never had a nut or bolt I have not been able to undo since I have been using this for the past couple of years.
