ENGINE REMOVAL

Time to drop this heavy lump of an engine out.

An unbelievable amount of lubricant spray was used to unbolt this engine. I have a feeling some of these bolts have never been undone in all of its 19 year lifetime.

I spoke to a guy who does wet blasting in order to clean the engine. Unfortunately  due to the engines size and weight he would not be able to achieve a perfect finish with it fully assembled.

The engine was running well and I was not planning on pulling it down. The last time I [attempted] to work on a 4 stroke engine was when I was 17. Long story short, the bike ended up at a mechanic fixing my mistakes. It's now six years since then, time to step up and tackle this. YouTube is going to become my best friend through this process.
